====== Common connectors settings ====== Describes common parameters and behaviors of connectors. ===== Custom timeout ===== ==== Context ==== * A Connector is tested every two minutes when it is active * Alarms will be generated when the connection fails ==== Max invalid time ==== * To avoid false alarms caused by transient problems, the **Max invalid time** parameters defines the maximum time a connector can fail before sending an alarm. * Example for a timeout set to 5 min: * 12:00 -> Check OK * 12:02 -> Check Failed * 12:04 -> Check OK * **No alarm is sent**: The connector failed for less than 5 minutes ==== Max response time ==== * Another parameter which plays a role in the connection check is **Max response time** * If the system doesn't respond to a connection attempt within the allocated max response time, the connection will be considered as failed. * This parameter helps to avoid false alarms for slow systems which sometimes take longer to respond. ==== Override default settings ==== * Max invalid time and Max response time are global settings defined in the admin configuration * However, those settings can be overriden in the connector settings * Just enable the custom timeout check box to customize those timeouts {{:products:promonitor:6.8:userguide:configuration:systemsconnectors:pasted:20230824-173438.png}}
